How it works

How an evening goes.

  1. The question is already there

    No blank field. You read the question and start. Or you write about something else entirely.

  2. Type or dictate

    For dictation Reflect uses your operating system’s speech recognition; where that processes the audio is Apple’s or Google’s decision. The entry is saved the moment you leave it. Mid-sentence included.

  3. The reflection is a button

    Only when you ask for it does the text of that one entry leave and come back as a reflection. If you never ask, nothing leaves the device.

The path runs through our Cloudflare proxy to Anthropic. The proxy does not store the input text; only the generated answer is cached, for up to 30 days, under a key derived from a one-way hash of the request. Our logs hold route, model, token counts, status and duration — never journal text. Everything else, including billing and pseudonymous product analytics, is in the privacy policy.

What Reflect is not.

  • Not therapy, not advice.Reflections come from a language model. They are a prompt for your own thinking — not medical, psychological, legal or financial guidance. If you are genuinely struggling, talk to a professional, or call emergency services in a crisis.
  • Not a scoring system.There is no score for your week and no number to push up. The streak counts days, not performance.
  • Not a social network.No friends, no likes, nothing to publish. Nobody reads what you write except you.

Common questions.

Does Reflect work without internet?
The writing does — entries, search, streak and the on-device reviews need no connection. Only the AI reflection and the AI weekly review need one, because they are generated elsewhere.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no email address to hand over.
What does Reflect cost?
Writing, search, streak and the local reviews are free. Reflect Pro lifts the limit on AI reflections and unlocks the deeper weekly review. Price and term are on the App Store and Google Play — that is where they are binding, and a copy here would eventually be wrong.
Can I take my entries with me?
Yes. There is an export and an encrypted backup with your own passphrase. Both are created on the device; you choose where the file goes.
Can I delete everything again?
Yes, in settings. It removes the entire local store, including scheduled reminders.
